Thank you for coming with me thus far

I hope you’ve found the experience of getting these emails via substack a positive one.

I certainly picked my timing! I realised afterwards that I’d carried VIP Readers Club members across to Substack on the very day that they were carrying out maintenance. If that caused problems, I can only apologise. I’m spending most of my time writing, so when I have time to work on other things, I have to go for it.

The new Devonshire Mystery is shifting into top gear as DI Spiller arrests a suspect, but Dan is beginning to wonder whether the police have the wrong man. Of course he is.

What will happen to your membership of my author website?

The membership scheme on michaelcampling.com has become superfluous, so I have removed it. The content is still there, but you will no longer have to sign in to see it.

That said, I will be concentrating on this substack publication, so new posts and photos will be appearing right here. There are some new photos below.

What will happen on this substack?

This publication is a space where I can share photos, articles and news about my books, daily life and my writing - all in an entertaining way. My aim is to serve my audience, i.e. you.

You’ll be able to join in by commenting on posts, notes and chats. It will be fun, welcoming, family friendly and inclusive. That said, everything is optional. Which brings me to…

Will I still get my email newsletters?

Yes. I’m aiming to send out a newsletter once a week.

In addition, for those who want it, substack offers flexibility. If you want to carry on as before, that should be fine. If you prefer to visit this publication on the web, that’s fine too. If you’d rather get the substack app and use that to read my posts and so on, that should work well.

Want to mix and match depending on where you are and when you have time? Go for it.

Personally, I use the app on my phone and tablet to read posts from people I’ve followed, and reading via the app has replaced my use of social media - that can only be a good thing. Here’s a wee link to the app:

Featured Photos

Some snapshots of Exeter looking nicely leafy. The large building is an old theatre that's recently been renovated. I really like this part of the town.

Our local ParkRun was closed due to fallen trees, so we did the one at Teignmouth. We ran along the promenade, and it was beautifully flat. Afterwards, a treat of vegan pancakes. Dan would approve of my morning.

I’m hoping to finish the first draft of the mystery before long. I’ll be sure to let you know when.
