Conundrums, photos, book news
This week's roundup from the VIP Reader Club
Hello there,
I’m still playing around with the format of our newsletter, and since I have posted several items on our substack publication this week, I thought it worth offering this roundup email so you can choose what to read and watch.
The photos are popular, so they are included here in full, but everything else is onkly a click away.
This is only the second time I’ve tried this format, but I write these emails for you not for me, so I’d really like to know how you feel about our newsletters. There’s a simple poll below, and I’d be grateful if you could indicate which type of newsletter you prefer:
Featured Photos
I took these photos about a week ago, when the weather was fresh and there were hints of spring. I laced up my old walking boots and marched up the lane one lunchtime as a break from working on my upcoming book, A Shamefaced Murder.
At times like that I always miss Lottie who was our faithful and gentle Labrador. She died a while back, but up until then she did a great job of keeping me company and encouraging me to go out for walks twice a day.
Still, the spring is something to look forward to, and I’ll be sure to get out and about to take lots of photos to share. At some point in spring, A Shamefaced Murder will be released, so I have a lot to do before now and then. I’d better get back to it.
Here are the photos.
Three ways to enjoy the photos: a collage in the email, separate images in the substack app, an interactive gallery in the online post.

Details - Left to Right, Top to Bottom
I finally found snowdrops - they were on a bank beside the lane,
The steep lane up from our village and views over the surrounding countryside.
More photos soon. Until then, happy reading.
I hope you found something interesting and that you were able to access everything easily.
All the best and take care,
Mikey
