I rather like the Oxford Comma, but am not dedicated to it.
That said my college English professor was always docking me for my commas as He said I sprinkled them about like fairy dust…even after my explanation that I was purposely trying to slow the reader down.

I know what you mean - I had a habit of trying to control how a sentence is read. I say live and let live, so long as it makes sense and does the job.
It’s fascinating how language changes from place to place and from time to time.
