As spring makes way for summer, the Devon hedgerows come into their own
Here are some pictures of the lane that leads up from our little village.
If you’re a driver, you may be thinking that the lanes look a bit hairy, and we do get comments from visitors that they’d rather tangle with rush-hour traffic in a city than face Devon’s twisting lanes.
Add in the possibility of horses, cyclists, dogwalkers, hikers and even escaped livestock or a confused deer, and driving can seem a daunting prospect.
We get used to it, and most people drive fairly slowly and are prepared to reverse (sometimes for quite a way) to allow someone to pass. There have been times, usually when I’m in a rush, that I’ve had to reverse over the same stretch of road four times before I get to go further, but that goes with the territory. Most people give a friendly wave to say thank you.

Gorgeous pics as always! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed them.
Thank you for these photos, as always, Mikey.
(You certainly hit on something with today’s newsletter. We are soon undertaking our 5th cross-USA relocation in 13 years and I am trying desperately to weed out some of our 5000+ books. Heart-rending!)
Oh gosh. That’s a mammoth undertaking. But I guess it’s exciting to be moving to pastures new.
Lovely photos! Was there a storm brewing? That’s usually the only reason an entire herd of cows will lay down with one standing sentinel.
I don’t recall, but we’ve certainly had some stormy weather recently.
