Sue and I took a trip to Winchester to visit our son and his partner.
It’s a charming city, crammed with beautiful old buildings. One of them hold the Deanery Bookshop, where I bought half a dozen secondhand paperbacks, mainly crime fiction.
There’s also a thriving market, and I picked up a few old vinyl records, all jazz. And if that weren’t enough, we visited coffee shops and eateries, and even a bar or two. What’s not to like?
I hope you enjoy the photos.

Lovely seeing your photos, thank you Michael!
As always, you’re very welcome.
I know I’m dating myself here, but when I saw your photos of Winchester Cathedral, the song by that name from The New Vaudeville Band circa 1968 popped into my head! Looked like a delightful excursion. Glad your experiencing sunnier days.😊👍
Ah, you might be surprised how many say, “Like the song” every time I mention Winchester Cathedral. Glad the photo brought back memories.
A sad memorial for our times, as well.
Yes, I quite agree.
Wonderful photos. Oh to be in England! I’ve traveled from California to Britain many times and hope to do so again when the world settles down to a dull roar. And I’m not getting any younger🤨. Your photos warmed my heart. 💙🐝
Thank you – that’s lovely to hear. I’ll keep taking the photos. And yes, I’ve missed travelling. I hope to get out a bit more this year.
They have (or used to ) a really good Christmas market around the cathedral
Yes, I haven’t been yet, but I hope to.
