We’re really getting into the story now, and Alan is struggling to make sense of it all.
How are your powers of deductive reasoning shaping up?
Perhaps you have your own ideas about what Alan should do next.

Were I a member of a rescue team who had just lost one of their party, I don’t think I’d take kindly to a stranger querying me about the precise time that the events occurred, so I think Alan dodged a bullet there.
Is Gary just a distraction, or will he feature more. Hmmm, interesting.
I like the one-sided approach with the focus on Alan (who kindly summarises what Dan has written to him). I’m intrigued about Gary’s input … could the issue of the rare birds be relevant or is it just a red herring/red-backed shrike?! Hope Alan gets his bacon soon!
Glad to hear that you are intrigued. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.
I meant we need to see Dan’s emails
Thanks for your comments. I really wanted to try and tell this story from one point of view. I can appreciate that it might seem a bit one-sided, but the limitations of the form presented me with a nice challenge. I hope that you’ll feel satisfied when you reach the end and it all becomes clear.
And now another possible suspect is introduced. How interesting!
Some more thoughts about the store keeper. Did he know Simon previously? Any problems between them? Or was he bird watching and saw something significant that he isn’t aware of the importance. I’m still questioning the story told by the ‘lost’ couple. Still a lot of blanks to fill in.
It is holding my interest but it would be good if we could respond in some emails . The info on Gary just not sure how that plays into the mystery maybe missed something
