A summer’s day in Devon.

I took these while out for one of my daily walks with Lottie, this time accompanied by Sue.

I still sometimes have to pinch myself at the realisation that I live in the middle of this beautiful landscape, a joy made all the sweeter by the fact that I get to share it with the beautiful Mrs C. Such riches, and more than I deserve.

It was a beautiful day and you could see for miles. I hope you enjoy the photos.

From time to time I mention the River Teign (pronounced ‘Teen’) in the Devonshire Mysteries, so here are some photos of a stretch of the upper Teign on a sunny summer’s day.

The path runs through a nature reserve that consists of an unspoilt woodland – a lovely cool place for a walk on a hot day.

I hope you like the photos.

While Sue and I were in Yorkshire, we visited an RSPB (the Royal Society for the Preservation of Birds) reserve for sea birds.

The cliffs were dramatic enough, but the birds sailing past made it a magical experience. To cap it, we saw an albatross, a unique sighting in the UK. This beautiful bird was a long way off course, engaged in a doomed search for a mate. I felt sorry for the bird, but it was a wonderful sight as it sailed past below us. I didn’t take a photo of it because I wanted to watch the bird without being encumbered by a lens.

I hope you enjoy the photos.

Sue and I made time to visit Blackingstone Rock. Having written a story about the place, I thought I’d better share it with you.

The Rock, and the path to it, are hard to find. There was no signpost, and the car park was small and neglected. The path was so overgrown that we had to push our way through the undergrowth. The bracken was taller than me!

No one else was there, and we had fun exploring and taking photos.

Below you can see various views of the rock and the surrounding countryside.

Sue (Mrs C) and I have just come back from a week in my hometown, Pickering in North Yorkshire. It was a welcome break, and quite novel for us to be able to stroll into town and pop into the shops or a cafe.

Of course, I took a few snaps to try and capture the place for you.
